Dec 29, 2011, 2:42 GMT
Yangon - A fire that set off explosions at a Yangon warehouse complex early Thursday killed at least 15 people, including five firefighters, and injured 85, police said.
The fire broke out about 2 am (1930 GMT Wednesday) in a group of government-run warehouses in downtown Yangon, Myanmar's largest city.
About 20 minutes after fire trucks arrived at the scene, four large explosions shook the warehouses, killing at least five firefighters and 10 civilians living in the area, police said.
Of the 85 injured, four were listed in serious condition.
The fire destroyed at least 15 warehouses, five fire trucks and several residences near the warehouses.
Police said the warehouses stored chemicals and other materials for the medical industry.
