Magnitude-7 quake rattles eastern Japan

Tokyo - A magnitude-7 earthquake rattled wide areas of eastern and north-eastern Japan on Sunday, shaking buildings in Tokyo, the meteorological agency said.
No tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of injuries.
The agency said the quake struck at 2:28 pm (GMT 0528) and was centred at the sea around Tori Shima island, 600 kilometers south of Tokyo, at a depth of 370 kilometers.
Tokyo Electric Power Co, which runs the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, reported no immediate problems at the damaged plant, broadcaster NHK said.
The plant has been leaking radiation since it was struck by the March 11 quake and tsunami.
The twin natural disasters ravaged the north-eastern region and left more than 15,800 dead and 3,400 missing.
