Jan 8, 2012, 15:05 GMT
Seoul - North Korean television broadcast a documentary Sunday showing Kim Jong Un taking part in military operations, to highlight the military experience of the country's new leader, who took power last month after his father's death.
The documentary about Kim Jong Un, who is believed to be in his late 20s, praised the new leader as a 'genius among geniuses' with regard to military strategies.
Kim Jong Un was made the 'supreme leader' of North Korea, its 1.2-million military and the ruling Workers' Party after his father's death.
The footage showed Kim in a tank cockpit, riding a horse, sitting in the cockpit of a helicopter and taking part in target practice. The exact date of the footage was not clear but some of it showed him alongside his father, Kim Jung Il.
North Korea is in a standoff over its nuclear programme and has to deal with food shortages that have killed thousands of people.
