Wellington - A family of four, including two young girls, were buried alive when a landslide engulfed their house after days of torrential rain and widespread flooding in Fiji, according to reports from the capital Suva on Thursday.
Police confirmed the victims in a village near the flood-stricken town of Ba were a 35-year old man, his wife, 30, and their daughters aged three and one, the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation reported.
Earlier, two farmers were reported to have drowned as they tried to rescue their stock from flood waters.
About 1,500 people have been evacuated from their homes by flooding in the western part of the main island, Viti Levu.
