Two dead in motel fire in Manila
Feb 1, 2012, 4:29 GMT
Manila - A fire gutted a Manila motel before dawn Wednesday, killing two people, arson investigators said.
The fire started on the second floor of the six-storey Red Apple Motel in the central district of Quiapo, investigators said.
One of the victims was burned to death on the second floor while the other victim died from smoke inhalation on the fifth floor.
Three other people trapped inside the lodging house were rescued and suffered minor injuries. The remaining guests were able to escape the building.
Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the fire in a neighbourhood where most buildings were constructed in the 1970s.
