Syria's Australian embassy trashed
Feb 4, 2012, 23:43 GMT
Sydney - The Syrian embassy in Canberra has joined diplomatic outposts around the world in being attacked by demonstrators calling for the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad.
Local media said around 40 men stormed the building on Saturday, smashing everything in sight and forcing three diplomats to take shelter in the basement.
No arrests were made.
Syrian diplomatic missions in London, Berlin, Cairo and Kuwait were all attacked in apparent reprisals for the deaths of civilians at the hands of government forces in Syria.
