43 dead in strong quake in the Philippines

Manila - The death toll rose to at least 43 Monday from a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that jolted the central Philippines, an army commander said.
Twenty-nine victims were confirmed killed in a landslide triggered by the quake in the village of Planas in Guihulngan town in Negros Oriental province.
Colonel Francisco Zosimo said 10 others were killed in Guihulngan, two in Tayasan town, one in Bindoy town and one in Jimalalud town in Negros Oriental.
