US, North Korean delegations to meet in Beijing
Feb 13, 2012, 19:38 GMT
Washington - A US delegation will travel to Beijing for a February 23 meeting with North Korean officials, the State Department said Monday.
The meetings are the first between the US and North Korea since the death in December of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, whose son Kim Jong Un has been named supreme leader and successor.
Glyn Davies, US special representative for North Korea, will lead the interagency US team. First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-Gwan is to head the North Korean delegation.
The talks are to continue meetings held in July in New York and October in Geneva.
