Wellington - Computer hacking group Anonymous broke into the personal email account of New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully, it was reported on Wednesday.
The Dominion Post newspaper said the breach had taken place last April around the time Anonymous had threatened to close down Government websites due to the passage of more stringent internet copyright laws.
McCully told the newspaper that as far as could recall no confidential briefings had been sent to the email account, though some office correspondence had been forwarded to it.
McCully had become aware of the breach and closed the account when emails were sent from the address making fun of the minister.
