Guantanamo detainee charged in terrorism case

Washington - Guantanamo detainee Majid Shoukat Khan has been charged with delivering funds to finance the bombing of the JW Marriott hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia in August 2003, the US Defence Department said on Wednesday.
The bombing, carried out by militants linked to al-Qaeda, killed 11 people and wounded nearly 100 others in a blast that wrecked the hotel and grabbed headlines worldwide.
Khan, a native of Pakistan, is also charged with attempting to assassinate former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, as well as conspiracy, murder, and providing material support to terrorism. He will be tried by military commission.
