Vietnamese man admits killing girlfriend over marriage proposal
Feb 23, 2012, 5:26 GMT
Hanoi - Police have arrested a man in north Vietnam who admitted stabbing his girlfriend to death after she asked for more time following his marriage proposal, local media reported Thursday.
Tran Minh Tan, 21, a resident in Hai Duong city, had been going out with his 19-year-old girlfriend for three years when he popped the question on Tuesday, newspaper Dan Tri reported.
When she said she needed more time Tan stabbed her 10 times in the neck, killing her on the spot.
Tan then called for help, saying his girlfriend had been attacked by youths. A friend later persuaded him to give himself up to police after Tan admitted his crime to him.
Tan told the police his girlfriend had misgivings about joining his family because his parents had recently divorced, according to the report. Author: Marianne Brown
