Angry passengers stage sit-in after Hong Kong-bound flight delayed
Feb 24, 2012, 7:03 GMT
Hong Kong - A group of angry passengers from Shanghai staged a four-hour sit-in on a plane after it landed in Hong Kong 18 hours late, the South China Morning Post said Friday.
Seventeen passengers refused to get off the Hong Kong Airlines flight on Thursday until they were given compensation for the inconvenience of the delay, which was caused by fog.
The flight eventually arrived in Hong Kong at around 5 am (2100 GMT Wednesday) but the passengers remained on board until the airline agreed an unspecified amount of compensation around 9 am.
In November, police had to be called to the airport after 80 passengers staged a sit-in, some of them for up to five hours, on another Hong Kong Airlines plane after their flight from Singapore to Hong Kong was delayed by 19 hours.
They eventually disembarked when the airline agreed to give them compensation of up to 1,200 Hong Kong dollars (154 US dollars).
