Berlin - The German government approved arms-related exports totalling 4.2 billion euros (6.2 billion dollars) over the course of 2006, according to official figures released in Berlin Wednesday.
The figure was unchanged from the previous year.
Almost three quarters of the exports - 72.5 per cent - went to European Union and NATO countries and to NATO allies, the Economics Ministry said.
Exports of weapons of war fell 16 per cent on the year to 1.4 billion euros, with two-thirds of these going to the EU, NATO and NATO allies.
Most of the rest of the war weapons exported were in the form of submarines and high-speed boats to South Korea, South Africa and Tunisia.
Weapons of war made up just 0.15 per cent of total German exports, the ministry said.
