Oh, so it isn't just us greedy Americans who are fouling the environment with our SUV's! But, wait just a minute, the Germans sell their vehicles all over Europe, right? They wouldn't be in business if there were no buyers for their gashawg vehicles, right? Holy Clarkson, Ham-man! The whole thing is about to come unraveled!
The truth be told, fuel economy is a security issue. The fewer liters per kilometer consumed means that much less crude consumed and that is coming from countries and people who are about as fond of Europeans as they are Americans. We are just dumb-ass customers who keep giving them money they can use against us. Do I really need to list the countries I am talking about? Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, Niger, Venezuela...How long of a list do you want?
