Revenues of Taiwanese electronics giant Acer rise 28 per cent

Taipei - Taiwan's electronics giant Acer Inc saw its revenues soar 28 per cent year-on-year to hit 127 billion Taiwanese dollars (4 billion US dollars) in the first quarter, Acer said Wednesday.
Acer's operating income was 2.74 billion Taiwan dollars (86.8 million US), profit after tax 2.95 billion Taiwanese (93.6 million US) and earnings per share was 1.25 Taiwanese dollars.
According to the first-quarter preliminary data from Gartner Dataquest, the world's leading information technology market research firm, Acer was the number 3 personal computer vendor, with 9.5 per cent of global market share.
Acer was also the fastest-growing total personal computer vendor among the top five personal computer brands, with 25.2 per cent year- on-year growth, Gartner said.
