Jordan's inflation rate at 13.31 per cent in first six months
Jul 15, 2008, 15:34 GMT
Amman - Jordan's consumer prices index (CPI) surged 13.31 per cent in the first six months of the year, the Department of Statistics said Tuesday.
The CPI, which measures inflation, stood at 136.1 for the first half of 2008, compared with 120.56 in the same period of 2007.
The sharp rise in inflation was due mainly to a 49 per cent increase in fuel prices, a 20 per cent increase in transport costs, a 33 per cent rise in the prices of dairy and poultry products and a 27 per cent rise in cereal prices, the department said.
