German designer Sander signs deal with Japan's Uniqlo clothing

Tokyo - German designer Jil Sander signed a consulting agreement with Japan's casual fashion firm Fast Retailing Co Tuesday in Tokyo.
Fast Retailing declined to disclose details of the contract, but Sander was expected to work through JS Consulting Co exclusively with the Uniqlo brand and oversee its designs for all products of men's and women's clothes.
'I'm very excited,' Jil Sander said at a press conference. 'The challenge for me is to establish premium quality in a democratically priced brand, Uniqlo.'
Uniqlo is known for mass production of casual wear at low prices. The first collaborative collection would be introduced for this year's fall/winter season, according to Fast Retailing.
'We hope to bring revolution to the world's fashion industry with the greatest designer of luxury fashion and Japan's samurai in mass marketing,' company vice president Yukihiro Katsuta said.
Sander is known for her minimalist designs. She is the founder of the luxury brand 'Jil Sander,' which she parted with in 1999 after it was sold to Prada SpA of Italy.
