Seoul shares fall sharply on concerns about world economy

Seoul - Shares took a nosedive Thursday on the Seoul stock exchange on heavy foreign and institutional selling amid renewed worries over the global economy. South Korea's currency also dropped sharply against the dollar.
The benchmark Kospi index fell 36.75 points, or 2.6 per cent, to close at 1,378.14.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers 669 to 168.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market tumbled 13.25 points to 528.
On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,251 won after trading at 1,233.20 won Wednesday.
