Jun 16, 2009, 15:36 GMT
Paris - Low-cost carrier AirAsia announced Tuesday at the Paris International Air Show that it had purchased 10 long-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
The value of the deal is 2.4 billion dollars, according to the plane's list value. Air Asia, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, said it would use the A350 on routes to Europe and Australia.
The A350 will be delivered to clients beginning in the year 2013. It has a range of 15,400 kilometers. It is Airbus's answer to rival Boeing's 787 Dreamliner, which will have its maiden flight in the coming weeks.
