Aug 24, 2009, 12:06 GMT
New Delhi - Indian equities rose over 2.5 per cent on strong global cues Monday to extend gains for the third straight trading day.
The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 15,628.75, gaining 387.92 points or 2.55 per cent from its previous close.
Realty, metals and capital goods stocks drove the market advances.
The Sensex has gained 817 points in three trading sessions since Thursday.
The broader 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 4,642.80, up 2.52 per cent from its previous close.
Analysts said trading sentiment was strong after global markets posted gains. Wall Street closed at its highest levels since November on Friday and Asian bourses staged a rally after last week's heavy selling.
