Philippine shares rise more than 2 per cent on US markets gains

Manila - Philippine shares rose 2.3 per cent on Tuesday on the back of overnight gains in the US equities market.
The Philippine Stock Exchange's 30-share composite index gained 64.98 points to close at 2,884.46, from Monday's finish of 2,819.48.
A total of 1.96 billion shares valued at 21.67 billion pesos ( 471 million dollars) were traded.
Gainers outpaced losers 90 to 17, while 55 issues were unchanged.
