Oct 30, 2009, 13:28 GMT
Taipei - Taiwan personal computer giant Acer Inc reported a 14-per-cent increase in its third quarter net profit from a year earlier because of a revival in global demand.
After-tax profit in the July-to-September period stood at 3.47 billion Taiwan dollars (107.8 million US dollars), up from the 3.04 billion Taiwan dollars in 2008's third quarter, Acer said.
It reported record high sales of 167.6 billion Taiwan dollars, up 5.3 per cent.
However, in the first three quarters of the year, Acer's net profit suffered a 12.1-per-cent decline to 7.84 billion Taiwan dollars from the same period a year ago, it said.
