Tokyo stocks end week mixed on US job data, recovery hopes (Roundup)

Tokyo - Stocks in Tokyo closed mixed on Friday as rises earlier in the day on optimism about US economic recovery were undermined as investors cautiously awaited a key monthly report on US job data.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 71.91 points, or 0.74 per cent, to close at 9,789.35.
The broader-based Topix index fell 0.95 points, or 0.11 per cent, to finish at 874.01.
For the week the Nikkei was down 2.5 per cent and the Topix fell 2.3 per cent.
On currency markets at noon (0300 GMT), the dollar traded at 90.61-62 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 90.40-43 yen.
The euro traded at 1.4869-71 dollars, up from 1.4825-28 dollars Thursday, and at 134.74-76 yen, up from 134.05-09 yen.
