GM's European head quits, company confirms
Nov 6, 2009, 18:16 GMT
Washington - The head of General Motors' European subsidiary is quitting, the carmaker confirmed Friday, just days after GM's surprise announcement that it was holding onto its troubled European operations.
Carl-Peter Forster, president of Opel Europe, was helping GM in its search for a replacement, the Detroit-based manufacturer said in a statement.
Forster, 55, had been highly critical of GM's last-minute decision not to sell Opel to Canadian car parts manufacturer Magna and their Russian backer, state-owned Sberbank.
