Tenerife suffers second black-out in two weeks
Mar 1, 2010, 9:52 GMT
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain - The Spanish Canary Island of Tenerife suffered a general power cut early Monday, with all of the nearly 1 million residents without power for more than five hours overnight, the electricity company Endesa said.
Electricity was restored by the early morning. Endesa attributed the black-out to a power failure at an electricity substation the causes of which were being investigated.
The black-out was the second to affect Tenerife within two weeks. The first power cut was attributed partly to stormy weather.
