Acer's 2009 revenues up 5 per cent in 2009

Taipei - Taiwan computer giant Acer Inc saw its revenues rise 5 per cent in 2009 due to the global recovery which boosted sales, the company said Wednesday.
In 2009, Acer's revenues hit 17.9 billion US dollars, while operating income was 479 million US dollars, up 9 per cent.
In the fourth quarter, consolidated revenue hit a record 5.3 billion US dollars, up 25 per cent year-on-year, while income was 155 million US dollars, also up 25 per cent.
Acer, the world's number-two notebook PC manufacturer, projects production of 40 million notebook computers in 2010, 15 per cent more than 2009, as it hopes to overtake Hewlett-Packard as the world's leading notebook manufacturer.
