French railway strike goes into second day
Apr 8, 2010, 12:02 GMT
Paris - French railway workers extended their strike into a second day Thursday, but train service improved over the first day of the job action, the national rail network SNCF said.
The high-speed TGV trains were operating near normal Thursday, while between half and three-quarters of scheduled local and regional trains were running, the SNCF said.
The job action, which began late Tuesday, was the third railway strike of the year. It was called by two trade unions to protest working conditions and demand the hiring of additional workers.
