Mazda to recall 90,000 vehicles in China and Japan
Apr 15, 2010, 11:45 GMT
Tokyo - Mazda Motor Corp said Thursday it would recall nearly 90,000 vehicles in China and Japan due to potential problems with the oil hose.
The recall of the model, known as the Mazda 3 in China and the Axela in Japan, was to begin Friday, Mazda said.
Mazda said because the oil hose was placed too close to the radiator's protective panel, driving on a bumpy road for an extended period of time could cause it to chafe and possibly wear through, leading to potential oil leaks.
In the worst case, the problem could prevent the car from starting, the automaker said on its website.
Mazda's recall is the latest in a string of safety problems that have shaken the industry in recent months.
