Singapore Airlines posts profit in second quarter
Jul 26, 2010, 13:30 GMT
Singapore - Singapore Airlines Ltd said Monday it made 253 million Singapore dollars (185 million US dollars) profit in the second quarter, up from a loss in the same period last year.
The airline said it expected the recovery in passenger numbers and revenue to continue through the rest of the year.
In the second quarter of 2009, the airline lost 307 million Singapore dollars.
The company said some future costs were uncertain, however, with jet fuel currently trading at around 85 US dollars per barrel.
Revenue in the second quarter grew year-on-year by 20.7 per cent to 3.47 million Singapore dollars.
The company took delivery of four Airbus A330-300 planes and decommissioned six Boeing B777s in April and May for its fleet of 106 passenger aircraft.
