Aug 3, 2010, 16:31 GMT
New York - US chemical company Dow Chemical on Tuesday reported earnings for the second quarter, emerging from losses in the year-ago period due to the economic crisis.
Dow Chemical saw revenues rise 20 per cent to 13.6 billion dollars on strong demand in Europe and North America. Profits amounted to 566 million dollars, following losses of 486 million dollars in the same period last year.
The chemical industry suffered heavily in the economic crisis and was forced to lay off thousands of employees.
