Acer's first-half income up 52 per cent

Taipei - Taiwan's computer giant Acer Inc saw its first-half income surge at an annual 52 per cent on stronger sales caused by the global recovery, the company said Wednesday.
Between January and June, Acer's operating income totaled 8.5 billion Taiwan dollars (264 million US dollars), up 52 per cent year-on-year, Acer said in a news release.
Acer's revenue reached 312.4 billion Taiwan dollars, up 31 per cent year-on-year.
Founded in 1976, Acer ranks a global second for total personal computers and notebooks. Its goal is to surpass Hewlett-Packard to become the world number one notebook manufacturer.
