Taiwan chipmaker's January-August revenues jump 55.5 per cent

Taipei - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC), the world's largest contract chip maker, said Friday its January-August revenues jumped 55.5 per cent year-on-year on surging sales.
The company's revenues for the period totaled 271.8 billion Taiwan dollars (8.4 billion US dollars), TSMC said in a statement.
For August, TSMC's net sales were 37.4 billion Taiwan dollars, up 0.5 per cent from July and an increase of 25.4 per cent over August 2009.
Established in 1987, TSMC has production sites in Taiwan, the United States, Singapore and China.
