Oct 14, 2010, 16:52 GMT
New York - Robert Tishman, a New York real estate tycoon who was involved in some of the most recognizable projects over several decades around the world, has died at age 94, New York broadcaster NY1 reported Thursday.
His family had significant holdings of rental properties on New York's Upper East Side, and Tishman parleyed that foundation into prestigious projects in the city and as far as Europe and South America.
Tishman was involved in landmark projects, including the Chrysler Building, Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center and the World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the 2001 terrorist strikes. His last project was One World Trade Center, the 541-metre-high skyscraper now being built on the same site.
Tishman's international projects included the Sony Centre in Berlin and Frankfurt's Opernturm.
He continued to go to work every day until two years ago.
