European, US sales slump for Bauknecht-parent Whirlpool

New York - Whirlpool Corp, the world's largest appliance maker, Wednesday reported a 9.2-per-cent drop in third-quarter profits compared to the same period last year.
North American revenues fell 3 per cent to 2.4 billion dollars. Sales in Europe lagged 8 per cent to 827 million dollars.
Latin American and Asian consumers boosted sales by 13 per cent and 21 per cent respectively. Latin American revenues were 1.1 billion dollars, while Asian sales were 195 million dollars.
Whirlpool brands include Maytag, KitchenAid and Bauknecht.
