SingTel expands mobile customer base by 35 per cent

Singapore - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, South-East Asia's biggest telecommunications company, said Wednesday that its mobile customer base had increased 35 per cent in the past year.
SingTel said the company and its associates in Asia and Africa had nearly 368 million mobile subscribers as of the end of September, up from 273.5 million at the same time a year earlier.
SingTel operates in Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Its biggest associate, India's Bharti Airtel Ltd, had 188 million mobile customers, including 40 million from operations in African nations.
