Taiwan airline orders eight Airbus jets

Taipei - Taiwan's TransAsia Airways has ordered eight Airbus passenger jets to expand its operations in Asia, the airline said Tuesday.
TransAsia said it ordered two A330-300s and six A321-200s to serve its routes to China and new regional routes.
The order is worth 940 million US dollars and aimed at preparing for the airline's expansion, press officer Shirley Chen said.
'Our name is TransAsia, so we have plans to expand in North-East Asia and South-East Asia,' she said.
'As the jets will be delivered between 2012 and 2016, we have several years to prepare for launching new routes,' she said.
TransAsia now has 16 jets flying to China, Japan, South Korea and Cambodia.
