Taiwan's October export orders up 12.3 per cent
Nov 19, 2010, 10:39 GMT
Taipei - Taiwan's export orders rose 12.26 per cent in October, compared with the same period last year, the Economics Ministry said Friday.
The growth was driven by strong demand for electronic and telecommunication products from China, United States and other emerging economies, it said.
Orders for October totaled 35.65 billion US dollars, up 3.89 billion US dollars year-on-year.
China remained Taiwan's largest buyer, ordering 8.5 billion US dollars worth of products, accounting for 24 per cent of total export orders received by the island.
The United States followed with 7.78 billion US dollars, accounting for 21.8 per cent of total orders, while Europe accounted for 7.06 billion US dollars, or 19.8 per cent, the ministry said.
Export orders reflect shipments in the next three months, and are a key economic indicator.
