Taiwan's exports rise 22 per cent in November
Dec 7, 2010, 13:52 GMT
Taipei - Taiwan's exports surged almost 22 per cent in November due to increased demand for its products caused by the global recovery, the Finance Ministry said Tuesday.
Taiwan's November exports totalled 24.4 billion US dollars, up 21.8 per cent year-on-year.
Between January and November, exports hit 250.8 billion US dollars, up 36.6 per cent from the same period in 2009.
Lin Li-chen, the Finance Ministry's statistician, said she expected Taiwan to have a bumper year if the island's exports continue to grow in December.
'The fourth quarter should be better than the third quarter as the Chinese New Year holidays are coming up,' she said.
Taiwan, an island with few natural resources, depends on exports, which consist of electronics products, plastics, chemicals and machinery.
