Windy postie fails to get his job back
Dec 17, 2010, 3:02 GMT
Wellington - A New Zealand postman who drew a formal complaint for passing wind in public failed to get his job back when an Employment Relations Authority adjudicator ruled Friday that he had resigned of his own free will.
New Zealand Post accepted a medical certificate from Marc Sanger of Christchurch, who admitted entering early finishing times on his time dockets because he had to make frequent toilet stops, the New Zealand Press Association reported.
Sanger admitted he had resigned from his job but claimed he had been a victim of a constructive dismissal after a disciplinary meeting.
He said he resigned after being told that dismissal was the only option for falsifying the time dockets. He said he signed them off early because the actual times would have affected his performance results.
Adjudicator Helen Doyle rejected his request to have his resignation declared null with compensation for lost wages, agreeing with New Zealand Post that he resigned of his own free will.
