Jan 25, 2011, 17:22 GMT
New York - US consumer and pharmaceuticals giant Johnson & Johnson saw its profits hampered by expensive recalls in the fourth quarter, the company said Tuesday.
Earnings fell 12 per cent to 1.9 billion dollars on one-time expenses related to recalls of products such as hip implants and medications. The recalls forced the company to halt production at one of its factories.
Quarterly revenues fell 5.5 per cent to 15.6 billion dollars.
For the year, profits rose to 13.3 billion dollars from 12.3 billion dollars a year-earlier. Yearly revenues were down slightly to 61.6 billion dollars.
