Mar 30, 2011, 10:00 GMT
Singapore - Visitor arrivals in Singapore climbed 15.4 per cent year-on-year in February to 990,000, the city-state's Tourism Board said Wednesday.
It was the highest visitor number ever recorded for the month of February, surpassing the previous record of 857,000 last year, it said.
Hotel room revenues were estimated at 159 million Singapore dollars (126 million US dollars) for the month, up 19.1 per cent from a year before, the board said.
After the opening of two casino resorts, Singapore last year hit record numbers for both visitor arrivals and tourism receipts.
For 2011, the city-state expected another record year for its tourism sector with tourist arrivals reaching 12 million to 13 million and tourism revenues rising to 24 billion Singapore dollars.
