Toyota to normalize production by October - ahead of schedule
Jul 6, 2011, 13:33 GMT
Tokyo - Toyota, the world's largest automaker, announced Wednesday that it should have its production lines back to normal by October, a month earlier than had previously been expected as it strives to recover from March's earthquake and tsunami.
The news was yet another filip for Japan's economy, the world's third largest. Also Wednesday, the benchmark 225 Stock Average closed at 10,082.48, the breaching the psychologically important 10,000 level and putting it back near its pre-tsunami levels.
The disaster disrupted much of Japan's economy. Firms that were not directly hit often found their operations affected because their suppliers had suffered losses in the disaster.
