Thai Central Bank raises benchmark interest rate by 0.25 per cent
Jul 13, 2011, 11:25 GMT
Bangkok - Thailand's central bank raised the interest rate by 0.25 per cent to 3.25 per cent on Wednesday, bank officials said.
The Bank of Thailand monetary policy committee raised the rate 'to maintain stability, in light of the continued risks to inflation amid robust domestic demand,' Paiboon Kittisrikangwan, assistant governor of the Bank of Thailand, said in the statement.
Inflationary pressure remained high due to higher energy prices and continued increases in the price of prepared foods.
