Thai shares dive 5.7 per cent on "panic" over Europe
Sep 26, 2011, 10:09 GMT
Bangkok - Thai shares nosedived 5.65 per cent Monday on panic selling by foreign and local investors spooked by concerns over European debt, brokers said.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand index fell to 904.06, down 54.10 points. It was the third day of dramatic tumbles on the Bangkok bourse sparked by concerns over the US and European economies that are major markets for Thai exports.
'Last week the selling was led by foreign investors, but today local players have joined the panic,' said Chaiyodh Jiwankul, an analyst at Country Group Securities.
