Germans queue at dawn to scoop up new iPhone at Apple stores
Oct 14, 2011, 10:24 GMT
Berlin - Hundreds of Germans waited at dawn outside Apple stores to buy the US company's new smartphone, the iPhone 4s.
Apple opened its German shops at 8 am two hours earlier than usual to cope with the rush on the first day of sale. In Frankfurt, about 1,000 people were waiting on the street as the shop opened, and the crowd of consumers in Munich numbered about 650.
'We're amazed to get such big crowds,' said Apple Germany spokesman Georg Albrecht.
The iPhone 4s was released for sale Friday in the United States and six other nations, but stronger-than-expected demand means that customers who have failed to pre-order one of the devices may have difficulty finding one.
