Chinese demand fuels Porsche sales in record October

Stuttgart - Luxury German sports carmaker Porsche said Wednesday sales zipped ahead in October due to strong growth in Asia.
October sales in all markets were 6.8 per cent higher than last October, the group said.
This pushed deliveries up to 9,419 cars last month as sales in Asia, in particular in China, jumped.
From January to October, Porsche sold 20,687 cars in China - 83.1 per cent more than in the same period last year.
The company expects China to become the company's largest market in two years' time.
Asian sales, excluding China, were up 33.9 per cent in October compared with the same month last year and 55.3 per cent in the January-October period (to 36,558 cars).
North American (Canada, United States) sales slid 15.6 per cent in October.
But, during the year so far, North American sales were up 22.5 per cent to 24,934 cars.
German and European sales also rose in October by 4.8 and 7.5 per cent, respectively.
German sales from January through October totalled 12,761 - 16.9 per cent higher than in the same period a year ago. Europe sales hit 34,199 - up 11.1 per cent.
Total sales so far this year are up 28.2 per cent to 100,391 vehicles.
