Nov 25, 2011, 12:47 GMT
Berlin - The leaders of Germany, Italy and France have developed a close working relationship in dealing with the debt crisis engulfing the 17-member eurozone, a spokesman for the German government said on Friday.
Steffen Seibert said Thursday's summit of Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti showed the leaders of the eurozone's three leading economies 'working closely and well together' to end the two-year old crisis.
At the summit in Strasbourg, France, both Sarkozy and Merkel accepted an invitation from Monti to visit Rome for further talks on the crisis along with Italy's efforts to clean up its state finances.
But, said Seibert, a final decision had not been made on when the leaders would meet in Rome. However, he expected said it would be shortly.
