Shares soar in Seoul on central banks' action

Seoul - Shares jumped Thursday on the Seoul stock exchange as sentiment was boosted following by the concerted action of major central banks to shore up global liquidity.
The benchmark Kospi index surged 68.67 points, or 3.7 per cent, to close at 1,916.18. Advancing issues outnumbered losers 632 to 213.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market rose 3.52 points to 496.33, up 0.7 per cent.
On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,126.1 Korean won, after trading at 1,143 Wednesday.
