Shares tumble in Seoul on deepening eurozone concerns

Seoul - Share prices fell Thursday on the Seoul stock exchange on mounting jitters that European countries cannot contain the debt crisis in the eurozone.
The benchmark Kospi index dropped 38.64 points, or 2.1 per cent, to close at 1,819.11. Declining issues outnumbered advancers 658 to 178.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market shed 10.62 points, or 2.1 per cent, to 497.76.
On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,163 South Korean won, after trading at 1,156.20 on Wednesday.
