Bargain hunting pushes up Japanese stocks in morning trading

Tokyo - Japanese stocks rose in Tuesday morning trading after investors sought bargains after recent falls.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 54.00 points, or 0.65 per cent, to 8,350.12 by the midday break at 11:30 am (0230 GMT).
The broader Topix index gained 2.66 points, or 0.37 per cent, to trade at 719.04.
Japanese Finance Minister Jun Azumi said the markets were relatively calm, one day after the announcement of the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.
On currency markets at 11:29 am, the euro was quoted at 101.41-44 yen, up from 101.35-39 late Monday, and at 1.2998-1.3000 dollars, down slightly from 1.3008-10 dollars.
The dollar traded at 78.01-06 yen, up from 77.91-93 yen late Monday.
